NW Entrance was built the hard way, one job and one customer and one door at a time. We install and service commercial automatic and manual doors, glass, and access control across all of Oregon and Southern Washington. This is the story of who’s behind that work, and why it still runs in the family.
1993
Dave and Anita started NW Entrance from the ground up. No accounts, no crew. Just years of hands-on experience, a service truck, and a promise they made to every customer who called: treat you like the only one.
The first work was automatic doors for grocery stores. When one jammed, a store stopped selling, so Dave learned to answer fast and fix it right the first time. Word moved the way it does in the trades, one good job at a time. A store manager told a property manager. A contractor kept the number. The work grew because the work was good.
It was never a nine-to-five. Dave went where the doors were: hospitals and retail chains, job sites as far as Hawaii, even the decks of cruise ships. If a good customer needed something done, the answer was almost always yes.
More than thirty years on, the standard hasn’t moved, because the same family is still running it. Dave built the reputation. Anita built the business around it. Today their son Mitch carries both forward, trained in the same work and held to the same promise.
That continuity is the whole point. When you call NW Entrance, you’re not routed through a call center to a rotating crew. You reach the people whose name is on the truck, and who intend to keep it there.

The core is still automatic doors: sliding, swinging, bifold, telescopic, and revolving, sold, installed, and serviced by factory-trained technicians. But four decades in the trade widen what you can do. Today that means door hardware of every kind, low-energy and ADA-compliant access, entrance and storefront glass, and card-access and electronic entry systems.
Two things haven’t changed. We service all makes and models, whoever installed the door. And when an entrance goes down, we answer around the clock: nights, weekends, and holidays, with same-day response across the Portland metro.
It’s the line NW Entrance was founded on, and it still decides how the work gets done. It means we pick up the phone. It means we show up when we say we will. It means the person who quotes the job is accountable for how it turns out, and that a small hospital and a national retailer get the same attention. To us, a door that won’t open is never a small problem.
Experience is the other half of it. You can hear it in the first phone call: the right question asked, the fast diagnosis, the fix that holds. That’s what forty years in the trade buys a customer.
The promise that started with a single grocery store carried the family a long way. Our work shows up behind names you’d recognize: a leading philanthropic foundation in Seattle, a major athletic apparel brand, a national grocery chain, and a national craft retailer. It also shows up in the hospitals, senior-living communities, and local businesses that call us first when a door won’t cooperate.

NW Entrance is now part of the Portland Vortex hub. In practice, that means broader resources and national backing behind every job. In every way that matters to a customer, nothing changed. Same family, same Portland shop, same phone number. More muscle behind every door we service. And this is still NW Entrance’s story, not anyone else’s.
Our home base is the Portland shop. Not the original Clackamas location, but the shop the family built the company around. From here we serve all of Oregon and Southern Washington, and over the years we’ve traveled well past it whenever a customer needed us.
